Be Patient
When he was 8And his friend was flying on a swing He wanted a turn to fly too But she said, "Be patient." When he was 17 And his friend was leaning against the wall He wanted to walk over and ask her to dance But she said, "Be patient." When he was 34 And his friend was sitting across the table He wanted to kneel down and propose to her But she said, "Be patient." When he was 41 And his friend was laying in a hospitol bed He wanted to reach down and hold is new son with her But she said, "Be patient." When he was 68 And his friend was walking in the park with him He wanted to carry her back to that swing and watch her fly again But she said, "Be patient." Now he's 81 And his friend is in the grave below him He wants so bad to go and be with her again But he can hear her saying, "Be patient." |
